The 1963 symphony is a dramatic work written for a large orchestra, a full choir, a boys' choir, a soprano soloist and a narrator. The name of the piece, Kaddish, refers to the Jewish prayer that is chanted at every synagogue service for the dead but never mentions "death."<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /><br /><br /> In particularly I was inspired by this performance <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcmmaEtbNJc" target="_blank"> YouTube (in particularly as of 17th minute 20 sec). </a><br /><br /> Acrylic on Canvas,<br /> 150cm x 100cm,<br /><br /> November 2017<br /><br /><br /><br /> This music is a four movements symphony.<br /> <br /><br /> The moments progress from left to right in my work.<br /> <br />1) Pines of the Villa Borghese <br /> This movement portrays children playing by the pine trees.<br /><br /> 2) The Pines Near a Catacomb. In the second movement, the children suddenly disappear and shadows of pine trees that overhang the entrance of a catacomb dominates.<br /><br /> 3) The Pines of the Janiculum <br /> The third movement is a nocturne set on Janiculum hill. The full moon shines on the pines that grow on the hill of the temple of Janus. The end of the third movement features the song of a nightingale,<br /><br /> 4) The Pines of the Appian Way. Respighi recalls the past glories of the Roman republic in a representation of dawn on the great military road leading into Rome. The final movement portrays pine trees along the Appian Way as a triumphant legion advances along the road in the brilliance of the newly-rising sun. Predicted in 1916 by Albert Einstein on the basis of his theory of general relativity, gravitational waves transport energy as gravitational radiation.<br /> The first observation of gravitational waves was made on 14 September 2015 and was announced by the LIGO and Virgo collaborations on 11 February 2016.<br /> <br /><br /><br /> Iris Ter Schiphorst wrote the music to commemorate that date. The music was performed by the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain as part of BBC Proms 2016.<br /><br /><br /> <br /> My painting is an improvisation on the music as I experienced it live in the concert hall.<br /><br /><br /> <br /> I later approached the composer and the orchestra who provided me with copies of the music to support the creation of this painting. This 3rd part of the music is a love scene.<br /> It combines the Rose as a symbol of love and the cello as the representative of the music. A lot is happening in this 4th movement of Scheherazade. You see?"<br /><br /> Alice in Wonderland I have been inspired by the movement and energy of the ballet dancer Maureen Fleming, as it appears in Lois Greenfield’s book “Breaking Bounds”. I have analysed some of the images in the book as part of an exercise to do with forces and pressure points. I had a vision of the golden lightning as soon as I saw the photograph. <br /> A lot of energy went into the creation of Lightning. I have created it partly at Anat Shamai studio and part at home. The clouds were all done by hand without the use of a brush. The image was done by brushstrokes most of which went only in the direction of the movement. I than was inspired by a picture of David Florence, a British slalom canoeist . The cerebration is to commemorate a miracle that took place in the temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabim, about 2nd century BC. The miracle is that the Menorah burned for eight days, even though there was very little oil left in the jar that may normally hold for one day only. One of the traditions is to play with a Sevivon-Dreidel- which is a four-sided spinning top.<br /> <br /> In my work I have tried to convey the endless spin and the symbols of Hanukkah. It is the first time I worked on a big format. Breakfast will include a good cup of coffee and music will be played at the background. <br /> The way to the studio will be characterized by many traffic jams.<br /> The time at the class is shared with other colleagues, one to my left and one to my right.
