You may identify that at the top of the flowers appears the number 55. The Hebrew readers may identify my wife’s name as well. I hope I managed to convey this emotion. <br />The original painting is hanged at friends house. Acrylic on Canvas<br /> <br />120x90 cm<br /><br /> Hanukkah is the Jewish festive of light that is being celebrated for the centuries. The cerebration is to commemorate a miracle that took place in the temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabim, about 2nd century BC. The miracle is that the Menorah burned for eight days, even though there was very little oil left in the jar that may normally hold for one day only. One of the traditions is to play with a Sevivon-Dreidel- which is a four-sided spinning top.<br /> <br /> In my work I have tried to convey the endless spin and the symbols of Hanukkah. It is the first time I worked on a big format. I found it very exciting, first the creation of the endless movement and then the addition of the symbols to the spin. <br /> Some preparations for this work can be found in the <a href="http://www.dan-arts.com/gallery.php?gallery=italy_gallery"> Draft </a>gallery.<br /> This picture is in the galley for sentimental reason. Those are the first ever strokes I took with a brush. This was in April 2009.
